BNP Paribas Cardif in Taiwan, the subsidiary of BNP Paribas Cardif, the insurance arm of BNP Paribas, raised NTD400,000 to support the Paper Windmill Arts and Educational Foundation which has been dedicated to the promotion of children’s art activities for many years.

In Taiwan, the Foundation has great reputation and strong influence. With the recognition of the Foundation’s principles and its efforts in promoting children’s art and cultural education in Taiwan, BNP Paribas Cardif in Taiwan has encouraged its employees to save money in the “Piggy Bank” and donate the money to the Foundation.

The activity conducted by BNP Paribas Cardif in Taiwan started in May and reached its goal to raise NTD400,000 by August 2. The fund will be used to sponsor a performance taking place on September 7 in Chungli.. The performance is part of the “First Mile Kid’s Smile” activity and is expected to be an unforgettable high-class art and cultural feast for local people, especially children.

The “First Mile Kid’s Smile” activity aims to attract voluntary donation from private sector, including companies and individuals, to sponsor children dramas in different places in Taiwan. The objective of the activity is to provide better access to art performances and cultural education, especially for the children in remote areas. This year, the programmes have also included elements of local culture to promote the unique aspects of Taiwan.

BNP Paribas Cardif in Taiwan has a strong commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR).   This year, the new “Piggy Bank” activity was launched based on employees’ innovative idea. Every employee in the company was given a piggy bank and the company encouraged them to save changes/coins in their personal piggy bank. Those little efforts became great support for Paper Windmill’s performance. An employee even donated NTD10,000 for this meaningful activity, which was a generous move.

The activity is a way to spread the idea of CSR and to give the company’s employees an opportunity to know how the Paper Windmill Foundation promotes the development of children’s education. Also, employees would better recognise the concept of corporate citizen. Apart from sponsoring the activity, some employees will also act as  volunteers for the event. They will interact with the children and share with them the knowledge of wealth management.

According to Polly Wang, the Country Manager of BNP Paribas Cardif in Taiwan, “BNP Paribas Cardif celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2013. Also, 2013 marks the 15th anniversary of the establishment of BNP Paribas Cardif in Taiwan. In return to Taiwanese society’s expectation and care to our development, we’d like to cooperate with the Paper Windmill Foundation to organise this performance. It is our duty to make contribution to the society in return. This kind of cooperation is also a realization of our care to the society. In the future, we will continue to promote activities that are beneficial to the society’s cultural development. We will keep working on the building of a good educational environment for finance and do what we must do as a corporate citizen.”

This initiative is part of the overall CSR commitment of BNP Paribas Cardif in Taiwan. The company was granted the “Best CSR” merit award at the “Insurance Faith, Hope & Love” awards in August. This prize rewards the range of CSR projects conducted by BNP Paribas Cardif in Taiwan.

In line with its commitment to CSR, BNP Paribas Cardif develops responsible products and services, supports diversity in the company, puts in place an internal environmental policy and commits itself into the economic and financial education.
